Today presented an amazing opportunity for reflection, time with friends and a fresh reset to life.
Ben, John, Patrick and I went on one heck of an adventure at Smith Rock State Park and the surrounding areas. I felt so much gratitude, peace and security on this beautiful day. "Some people feel the rain. Others just get wet." - Bob Marley
Last night it rained. ☔ This morning I awoke in a natural water bed and immediately proceeded to laugh at myself, pack my crap up and drive into my first snow ❄storm experience of the year. Nature never ceases to enlighten me. Stoked to be home. 🗻🌎 I live outside. Many would think that my decision has been driven by financial constrants. They are wrong. I have a great job at G5 that pays me well. I have more than enough $ to fund my expenses, travels and monthly rent, but long for something different than the average lifestyle filled with comfort, luxury and amenities. I chose to live outside because it is where I am truly the happiest. And, Iv'e come to realize there is something magical about making the most out of the least. When you open your eyes and look around resources are abundant, yet so scarce. It is weird, but the more material I get in my life the more I want to make more out of less. I suppose this mentality has largely been driven by Entrepreneurship, being an Eagle Scout and a career in Digital Marketing. You could say that Optimzation is at my heart. Some questions I continually ask myself - Is there a better way of being and doing? How can I do the same thing for less money? How can I clean my dishes with less water? How can I do everything with less water? What will this world be like when it does not snow anymore? Will I regret not having spent more time in the mountains when I am 100 years old? These questions drive me. They drove me to wake up in the mountains more days than not. They drive me to be a better leader, marketer, community member and outdoor enthusiast. The most important thing - They keep me driving forward. To answer the question - Why do you live outside? --- I want to. This post is part of a multi-month series. This is just the beginning of something great. The category is life outside. Some post topics that are coming - How Does Scott and How Could YOU ----
