Three Sisters, Oregon from Pine Martin on Mt Bachelor.
I love Mt. Bachelor. One reason is days like today. Days when the crowds are non-existant and the vibes are positive all around. Days when you can get fresh groomers after 11AM. Days when the jumps are perfect and they are big enough scare most people away.

Enjoy this short clip of Scott Rowley stomping a zero spin on skis at Mt. Bachelor, Oregon. This is really a simple trick once you learn how to ski backwards. You can take you trick bag a huge step farther and throw in a backflip like Scott Rowley's friend Ari Dalashmutt does in his throwback photo sequence.

A break from work and life is defined by the moment you free your mind from all thoughts.  Walking through Drake Park provides us with so much more then just freedom from our reality.  The Three Sisters, Mirror Pond, wildlife and fresh air are just some of the natural wonders Central Oregonians get the pleasure of experiencing on days like today.

The Skjersaa's fireplace brings an amazing vibe to your soul. The fire will always stoke a great conversation, fill you with warmth, happiness and stories from people you would least expect. I have met countless friends, filmers and athletes at this fire. The memories are countless and the stoke only dies when we get tired. Come visit the best ski shop in Bend, Oregon and while you're there enjoy the amazing warmth filled fire.

Kwolh Butte from Mt Bachelor boundary!
Our adventure to Kwolh Butte included a night out in the cold and a 360 degree skin around Mt Bachelor. My friend Drew Bryant and I began this awesome adventure around 330PM from the top of Rainbow chair lift. We briefly spoke with the Mt Bachelor Ski Patrol and informed them of our plan. We then skied off the backside of Bachelor and got caught by the rescue get back.

The sunset we experienced on the evening of 1/13/13 was absolutely beautiful.

We skied the rescue get back for roughly an hour before hunkering down for a night out in sub zero temperatures. The both of us were very glad to of brought plenty of warm clothing. We enjoyed dinner, hot cocoa and re hydrated with plenty of water. NOTE: Hydration is a necessary component to staying warm in winter conditions and having a good time.

Monday morning Drew and I awoke around 8am to finish our trek around Bachelor. We skinned the rest of the rescue trail to NW Express in roughly 1 hour. NW Express chairlift was a nice break from hiking. We then cruised down to the Pinnacle Cafe at Mt Bachelor to warm up our toes, enjoy a hot cup of coffee and meetup with our friend Radam Adam who runs Rad Camps in Central Oregon.

NW Express Coordinates: 43.99485,-121.71519

The three of us boarded Pine Martin Express at roughly 1130AM en route to the summit of Kwolh Butte. We entered the back country through the marked gates on the backside of Mt Bachelor and cruised through the woods to the base of Kwolh Butte. The skin to the summit was only what seemed like 30-45 minutes. At the top there is a bowl that you can ski down inside of and the views cast great opporunities to take photos of Crane Prarie, Mt Bachelor, Tumalo Mountain, Palina Peak and so much more.

These amazing places are right at our finger tips. We just have to get out and experience them to really respect there beauty.

NOTE: Always make a trip itinerary to let people know where you are going and when to expect you home safe.

Trip Itinerary : Planning to ski from the Summit of Mt Bachelor to http://www.mountainzone.com/mountains/detail.asp?fid=1978356. We will either dig a small snow cave or sleep in the shelter located on the west facing side of Kwolh Butte at roughly 5700 feet.

Where: Kwolh Butte - http://www.mountainzone.com/mountains/detail.asp?fid=1978356
When: Sunday 1/12/13 - Monday 1/13/13
Who: Drew and Scott

Note: Car parked at Edison Snow Park or closer to Cascades Lakes Highway Turn Off to Sun River.

You could say we had a bit more in store for us than expected. We were prepared for this and that made the whole experience amazing!
